THE IMPACT OF TEENAGE PREGNANCY ON YOUNG LIVES

Teenage pregnancy is one of the biggest issues in the Philippines faced by many young people today, and the country currently ranks second in terms of teenage pregnancy rates in the world. For me, this issue is very important to talk about because it affects not only the young mothers but also their families and the future of our society.

First, I believe that teenage pregnancy disrupts education. I have seen how some young people are forced to stop going to school because they need to take care of their child. This makes their opportunities in life fewer since education is the key to having a good job and a stable future. Without finishing school, it becomes harder for them to achieve their dreams.

Second, teenage pregnancy brings a lot of financial struggles. I know that raising a child is expensive because it requires food, clothes, healthcare, and education. Teenagers who get pregnant often do not have their own income, so they depend on their parents or partners. For me, this can be a very heavy burden not only for the young mother but also for her whole family.

Third, I think teenage pregnancy also affects emotions and health. At a young age, it is difficult to handle adult responsibilities. Many teenage mothers experience stress, anxiety, and even depression. They also face judgment from other people, which can hurt their confidence. On top of this, their health is also at risk because their bodies may not yet be ready for pregnancy and childbirth.

In conclusion, I believe teenage pregnancy is one of the biggest challenges faced by young people in the Philippines today. It affects their education, financial stability, emotional well-being, and physical health. For me, it is important that teenagers receive proper guidance, support, and education so that they can make better choices for their future. Teenage pregnancy is a serious issue, but with awareness and action, it can be prevented, and the youth can have a brighter and more successful life.
